Jose Luis Ferreiro Gutierrez MD, PhD

Dr. Jose Luis Ferreiro Gutiérrez is currently the Coordinator of the Cardiovascular Research Laboratory and associate physician of the Interventional Cardiology Unit, both belonging to the Heart Disease Area of ​​the Bellvitge University Hospital-IDIBELL.

Dr. Ferreiro obtained his bachelor's degree in Medicine from the University of Barcelona in 2002 and then carried out specialized training in Cardiology at the Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge (Barcelona). After obtaining the title of specialist in Cardiology, he did a research fellowship for 2 years (2008-2010) at the Cardiovascular Research Center of the University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville, Florida, USA. Subsequently, in 2010 he joined the Hemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology Unit at the Bellvitge University Hospital, where he also directed the Cardiovascular Research Laboratory since its launch in 2011.

His research activity has focused on the field of antithrombotic drugs, with a particular interest in platelet functionalism, the response to antiplatelet drugs, and the use of platelet function tests as a tool to implement individualized therapy. Since 2016, Dr. Ferreiro has been one of the coordinators of the Working Group on Cardiovascular Thrombosis of the Spanish Society of Cardiology. Currently (January 2019) he has 85 scientific articles published in indexed journals (h-index: 23), 7 book chapters or monographs, more than 80 conference communications and is a scientific reviewer for numerous national and international journals.
