Jose Ignacio Almeida MD, FACS, RPVI, RVT

Jose I. Almeida, MD, FACS, RPVI, RVT is a fellowship trained, board certified vascular surgeon in Miami, Florida and founder of the Miami Vein Center. Dedicating his life to treating people with vein disease, Dr. Almeida is a pioneer in endovenous therapy – the safe, minimally invasive procedure to eradicate varicose veins. Dr. Almeida is internationally recognized for his expertise in vein care. He is the author of numerous published abstracts, articles and textbook chapters on vascular surgery. He is also a frequent speaker, panelist and workshop director at medical conventions throughout the country. As a leader in his field, Dr. Almeida is devoted to teaching other surgeons the latest techniques in endovenous vein therapy. Dr. Almeida completed his 5-year board certification in general surgery at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital. He went on to complete an accredited two-year vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Missouri-Columbia. To date, he is the only board certified, fellowship trained vascular surgeon dedicated to veins in Miami. Dr. Almeida holds many distinguished titles, including Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, Diplomat of the Vascular Surgery Board – American Board of Surgery and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His many honors include “Strathmore’s Who’s Who” 2004 – 2005 and “America’s Top Surgeons: Consumer’s Research Council of America” 2002 – 2003 and 2004 – 2005. Dr. Almeida also serves as Voluntary Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Miami – Jackson Memorial Hospital.
