Dr. Jose Javier Garcia-Medina, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the University of Murcia. He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Granada, Spain. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University Hospital Dr. Peset, Valencia, and his PhD in Medicine at the University of Valencia, Spain. Dr. Garcia-Medina is also an active member of the Ophthalmology Research Unit “Santiago Grisolia” at the University of Valencia, Spain. He has presented over 150 communications at national and international congresses and published over 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He is also a reviewer of 15 international publications all over the world. He has been awarded several prizes such as the Arruga 2011 distinction, the annual prize awarded by the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology for the best CV among Spanish ophthalmologists aged under 40 years old, 2 Best Poster Awards in the Annual Congress of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has also collaborated with the European Board of Ophthalmology Diploma as an examiner. His research interests include Ophthalmology, Optometry, Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, Vision Science, Cataract Surgery, Retinal Diseases, and Optical Coherence Tomography.
