Dr. Ronche has been using open rhinoplasty since 1988 and was one of the first Brazilian surgeons to accept this surgical approach. Many surgeons have been and still are resistant to the use and teaching of open rhinoplasty. For this reason, Dr. Ronche created the Open Project, designed to promote and discuss open rhinoplasty (Open) with his colleagues in Brazil and Latin America. The Open Project was created in 2003 and has so far carried out 34 courses in the main cities of Brazil and neighboring countries. This is a 2-day course with 16 hours of lessons and discussions about rhinoplasty.

In the early years, the focus of the course was the approach techniques and basic procedures of open rhinoplasty. In the following years, the functional aspects of rhinoplasty were incorporated and the Open Project discussed functional open rhinoplasty. With the emergence of the concepts of structured nose anatomy and its use in rhinoplasty, the Open Project incorporated these new procedures and started to present the structured rhinoplasty, which also includes the functional treatment and is performed by the open approach.
