Jorge Amil Dias MD

Jorge Amil Dias is a Pediatric Gastroenterologist at Lusiads Hospital, Porto, Portugal. He Graduated in Medicine in 1977 at the Medical School of Porto, Dr. Amil Dias is a pediatric gastroenterologist with more than 40 years of clinical experience. He occupied for almost 39 years the head of the Unit of pediatric gastroenterology at the São João Hospital in Porto, Portugal. He occupies different positions on working groups and committees of ESPGHAN (IBD, EGIDs, Endoscopy). His main areas of expertise include pediatric digestive diseases such as IBD, celiac disease, eosinophilic GI diseases, and acute and chronic diarrhea.

After completing his medical studies at the Medical School of Porto Dr. Amil Dias started his medical career as a pediatric gastroenterologist at São João Hospital in Porto, Portugal for almost 39 years as the head of the pediatric GI Unit. Since 2021, he has occupied the position of pediatric gastroenterologist at Lusíadas Hospital, also in Porto, Portugal.

As a well-known European pediatrician, Dr. Amil Dias was a member of different working groups of the European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) on IBD, Eosinophilic GI Diseases and Endoscopy, he also held different council and committees’ positions at ESPGHAN, the last one being the general secretary (2018-2021). He is also a consulting and associated editor for different scientific journals on pediatrics, gastroenterology, and nutrition as well as a member of editorial boards. As a pediatric gastroenterologist, his clinical interests are especially pediatric digestive diseases, acute and chronic diarrhea, celiac disease, eosinophilic esophagitis, and inflammatory bowel disease.
