Jorg Thommes PhD, MS

Dr Jorg Thommes is currently the Senior Vice President of Technical Development at Biogen. In this function, he is responsible for development of Biogen’s clinical and commercial manufacturing processes for all therapeutic modalities; proteins, small molecules, oligonucleotides and gene therapy products. Previous positions at Biogen included Senior Vice President of Operations Technology and Innovation, as well as Vice President of Global Engineering and Facilities. Dr Thommes holds a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from University of Bonn, Germany (Diplom Chemiker) and a Doctorate of Natural Sciences from University of Bonn. He also holds an advanced academic research and teaching degree (Habilitation) in Biochemical Engineering from University of Dusseldorf.
