Jordi Bruix , Head of Oncology Liver Unit of Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and Head of Hepatic Oncology team at August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS) received last February 9 the prestigious Golden Medal Award.

Dr. Jordi Bruix, Deputy Scientific at Networked Biomedical Research Center Hepatic and Digestive Diseases (CIBEREHD), received last February 9 the prestigious Golden Medal Award from the Canadian Association for the Study of the Liver. This prize granted recognition for significant contributions to advances in the field of hepatology, especially liver cancer. Dr. Bruix received this award in the context of the Canadian Digestive Disease Week held in Toronto, where he gave his lecture Hepatocellular carcinoma: past, present and future. Dr. Jordi Bruix

In addition to recognizing the success of Hepatic Oncology Unit, known worldwide as the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC), Dr. Jordi Bruix was recognized for his teaching in the management of these patients and the value of their diagnostic and therapeutic studies in the management of this disease. In this sense, during the event stressed that currently international prognostic and treatment of patients with liver cancer assessment follows the BCLC model, the classification stratifies patients according to their status and links with an indication for treatment, and is the one based on the guidelines of European and American clinical practice.
