Jordan Scott Orange, MD, PhD, chair of pediatrics at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and pediatrician-in-chief of NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, comes to Columbia from Baylor College of Medicine, where he was most recently vice chair for research in Pediatrics, director of the Pediatrician-Scientist Training and Development Program, and chief of immunology, allergy, and rheumatology. At Texas Children's Hospital Dr. Orange held the Louis and Marybeth Pawleek Endowed Chair, and was director of the Jeffrey Modell Diagnostic and Research Center for Primary Immunodeficiency and of the Center for Human Immunobiology.

Dr. Orange combines novel disease discovery with basic cell research to translate underlying biological mechanisms of disease into clinical applications. His research has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health and he has published over 250 papers. Dr. Orange is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the American Pediatric Society and was a recipient of the E. Mead Johnson Award for research accomplishment in pediatrics from the Society for Pediatric Research.

Dr. Orange received his AB, PhD, and MD degrees from Brown University, and went on to residency training at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, clinical fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital, and a post-doctoral research fellowship at Harvard. He served for nearly 10 years on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine before moving to Houston in 2012.
