Professor Jong-Jae Park of The Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology of Korea University Guro Hospital (Photo) became the 10th president of the Korean College of Helicobacter and Upper Gastrointestinal Research. The term of office is two years from March 20 this year.

The Korean College of Helicobacter and Upper Gastrointestinal Research was established in 1997 in recognition of the need to conduct extensive research on helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). Since then, it has worked to promote the health of the people, along with academic research on various gastrointestinal disorders in addition to H. pylori.

“As the only research college on upper gastrointestinal disease and helicobacter in Korea, I will do my best to strengthen the status of our society and to expand our horizons,” said new president Park.

President Park is an authority on therapeutic endoscopy. He graduated from Korea University College of Medicine and finished a master's degree and a Ph.D. at the same university. He also served as Vice President of the Korean College of Helicobacter and Upper Gastrointestinal Research, Secretary-General of the Korean Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and Director of the Scientific Committee of the Korean Society of gastroenterology.
