Jonathan S. Roberts MD, FACC, FSCAI

Jonathan Roberts, MD, FACC, FSCAI is a board-certified cardiologist. He earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1982, and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta in 1983 and 1985, respectively. He completed his fellowships in cardiology at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in 1987 and 1990. Dr. Roberts completed his fellowship in interventional cardiology at Emory in 1991.

Dr. Roberts served as Chief Resident in Medicine at Grady Memorial Hospital, Emory University School of Medicine from 1987 to 1988. He was Acting Chief of Cardiology and Instructor of Medicine at Atlanta Veterans Administration Hospital, Emory University School of Medicine from 1990 to 1991.

Dr. Roberts has been Director of Interventional Cardiology at Miami Cardiology Group, practicing at Baptist Hospital of Miami from 1992 through 2014. He has a special interest in complex coronary artery interventions and has been a leading proponent of using coronary physiology to guide coronary interventions. Dr. Roberts also has an interest in clinical research and has been the principal investigator in more than 45 clinical and interventional cardiology trials. His current research has focused on improving success rates in radial artery access for cardiac catheterization, especially the use of ultrasound-guided radial artery access.

Dr. Roberts also has interests in structural heart procedures. He currently performs TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement), balloon aortic valvuloplasty, atrial septal defect and patent foramen ovale closure, and aortic and left ventricular pseudoaneurysm closure. These are all techniques that once required surgery, but are now performed percutaneously in the cardiac cath lab.
