Biography :

Jolien Roos-Hesselink is Associate Professor of Cardiology at the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. She graduated medicine in 1987 at the University of Utrecht where shealso performed her Postgraduate Course in Cardiology. Since 1992 she is Consultant Cardiology at the Thoraxcenter, Erasmus MC Rotterdam. Her clinical work and research involves adult congenital heart disease and heart valve disease, with special interest in aortic valve disease and ascending aorta pathology.

She has authored and co-authored numerous scientific publications on the outcome of congenital heart disease and on pregnancy in patients with heart disease. She is board member of the Dutch working group on Adult Congenital Heart Disease. At the moment she is principal investigator of a multicentre study investigating the role of medical therapy in bicuspid aortic valve disease and is founder and chairperson ofthe Registry on Pregnancy and Heart Diseases on behalf of the European Society of Cardiology.
