Dr. John V. White, MD is a Chairman of the Department of Surgery at the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Dr. John V. White is a board-certified vascular surgeon who specializes in the advanced diagnosis and treatment of all types of problems with arteries and veins.

After receiving his medical degree with honors from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. White served his surgical residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and his vascular fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Following training, he joined the Department of Surgery at Temple University School of Medicine where he became a Professor of Surgery (with Tenure) and Director of Surgical Research.

In 1999 he returned to the Chicago area and became a member of the Medical Staff at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Dr. White is involved in all aspects of vascular care of patients, including diseases of arteries, and veins, chronic pelvic pain due to pelvic varicose veins, and lymphedema of the legs.

Dr. White has special interests in complex aortic diseases, aortic aneurysms, surgical safety, healthcare delivery, and healthcare guidelines. He has had a long research interest in the causes and treatments of aortic aneurysms and complex aortic diseases.
