John Wesley Pike MS, PhD

Dr. Pike received an M.S. degree in Biology from Oregon State University in Corvallis and a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from the University of Arizona in Tucson in 1979. Following several additional years in Arizona, Dr. Pike moved to Baylor College of Medicine in Houston where he was an Associate Professor of Cell Biology. In 1991, he became Head of Biochemistry at Ligand Pharmaceuticals, Inc., located in San Diego. In 1996, he returned to the academic setting and in 2001 became a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Pike's interests are focused on the vitamin D endocrine system and the transcriptional mechanism of action of 1,25(OH)2D3 and its receptor in the skeleton
