John Soldatos holds a Ph.D. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (2000) and is currently Associate Professor at the Athens Information Technology (2006-present) and Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow, UK (2014-present). He was also Adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon University (2007-2010 ). Since 2014 he is a member of the European Crowdfunding Stakeholders Forum (ECSF), and since 2012 is the coordinator of the working group "IGT identification, naming and discovery" of the European Internet-of-Things Research Cluster (IIRC).
Dr. Soldatos has played a leading role in the successful delivery of more than fifty (50) (commercial-industrial, research and consulting) projects, for both private & public sector organizations, incl. some complex integrated projects. He has had a leading role in attracting more than 15 million Euro (15 M€) funding & grants in the scope of competitive procedures towards funding more than forty (40) innovative R&D projects and business plans in the fields of information technology and healthcare. he is a co-founder of the open-source platforms OpenIoT and AspireRFID.
