John S. Schneider, MD, MA is Director of Rhinology for the Washington University Sinus Institute. He completed his bachelor’s degree in economics at the University of Chicago. After that he worked at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington DC but decided on a career in Medicine, and so attended the University of Pennsylvania for his post-baccalaureate degree. Dr. Schneider then returned to the University of Chicago for his medical degree and a master’s degree in Public Policy. He stayed in Chicago, IL for his post-graduate residency training at Rush University Medical Center.
He found a passion in treating and studying diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses, and matched to the Vanderbilt Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery Fellowship. He then spent a year in Nashville, TN at Vanderbilt focusing on patients who suffered from nasal and sinus disease, in addition working closely with the neurosurgeons on complex tumors of the nose and brain that could be surgically treated using specialized cameras in the nose.
Dr. Schneider focuses on treating patients who suffer from diseases such as allergic rhinitis, acute and chronic sinusitis, nasal and sinus tumors, and anterior cranial base pathology. He is board-certified in otolaryngology and is an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He conducts research on topics such as population studies of sinusitis and patient decision-making about sinusitis treatments.
