John S. Parks PhD, MS

John S. Parks is a Professor of Internal Medicine- Chief- Section on Molecular Medicine at Wake Forest University. He received his Ph.D. at Wake Forest University. His lab investigates the role of lipid metabolism (cholesterol, polyunsaturated fatty acids) in the pathogenesis of complex chronic diseases, such as atherosclerosis, fatty liver disease, insulin resistance, and prostate cancer. He studies molecular pathogenesis using genetically-modified mouse models to better understand dietary fat-gene interactions. He also uses molecular and cell biology techniques for in vitro studies to expand my mechanistic understanding. The focus of her work aligns with multiple centers and departments within our Medical Center.
