Dr. Rawlins is a consultant interventional cardiologist who joined the Trust in 2016. He specializes in complex coronary intervention, including treatment for chronic total occlusions (blockage of a coronary artery for 30 days or more) and rotational atherectomy (surgery to improve blood flow to the heart by opening a narrowed artery).

Dr. Rawlins is also part of the team that carries out transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), a procedure used to replace a damaged aortic valve. He's involved in developing a new hybrid lab setting for TAVI that will enable cardiologists to be able to treat more people.

Together with Dr. Andrew Flett, Dr. Rawlins leads the Trust's service for cardiomyopathy, a disease of the heart muscle. They run a monthly multidisciplinary meeting for this service and coordinate with other hospitals in the region to organize care for patients with cardiomyopathy. Dr. Rawlins is particularly interested in cardiomyopathy in athletes.
