Dr. McLaughlin is a resident of Wayne, PA, and is currently Vice President and Global Medical Lead of COVID-19 and mRNA Vaccines at Pfizer. Dr. McLaughlin joined Pfizer as an epidemiologist and outcomes research scientist in October 2010. At Pfizer, he has held a variety of roles with increasing scope and responsibility as part of the medical, scientific, and clinical affairs organizations. He has supported a large portfolio of products and therapeutic areas, focusing mainly on Phase 3 and Phase 4 studies, outcomes and comparative effectiveness research, pharmacoeconomic modeling, quality-improvement initiatives, and real-world data analytics.

Prior to joining Pfizer, Dr. McLaughlin served as an epidemiologist at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center for four years where he played an important role in several NCI-funded population cancer research studies. In addition, as part of his role at Ohio State, he served as a liaison to the Ohio Department of Health and the local division of the American Cancer Society. During that time, Dr. McLaughlin also served as a consulting epidemiologist for Informagenics, LLC, a Columbus-based contract research organization that provided data analytic and health outcomes research support to several large pharmaceutical companies. Dr. McLaughlin received a B.A. in Zoology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Epidemiology from The Ohio State University College of Public Health.
