John Kwon MD, PhD

John Kwon, M.D., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the UT Southwestern Department of Internal Medicine. He serves as the Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Program and the Clinical and Translational IBD Research Core. Dr. Kwon earned his medical degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine while simultaneously obtaining his Ph.D. in pathology. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Harvard Medical School, where he also performed a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology.

After working as an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the University of Chicago, Dr. Kwon joined the UT Southwestern staff in 2015. Dr. Kwon is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. He is also Chair of the AGA Institute Ethics Committee and a member of the AGA Audit Committee.
