Dr. John K. Crane, MD, Ph.D. is a Professor of Medicine at the University at Buffalo. He received a medical degree from the University of Virginia. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. He cares for patients who are hospitalized at Erie County Medical Center where he also serves as the hospital epidemiologist addressing infection control. He also conducts laboratory research on diarrhea-producing strains of E. coli bacteria. His lab focuses on enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC), Shiga-toxigenic E. coli (STEC, aka EHEC) and enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC).
