John J. Friedewald MD

Dr. John Friedewald received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Princeton University and his MD from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. He completed his residency and fellowship training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

He now works as a transplant nephrologist in Chicago. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Surgery at Northwestern University in the Divisions of Nephrology and the Comprehensive Transplant Center. He is the Director of Clinical Research for the Transplant Center.

His clinical interests include improving options for highly sensitized patients through desensitization and kidney paired donation (KPD). One of his main research interests is developing proteogenomic biomarkers for use in transplantation.
