Dr. John Goodson is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and a practicing internist at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Goodson continues to practice both outpatient and inpatient medicine. He is the founder of the John D. Stoeckle Center for Primary Care Innovation. He has a lifelong interest in the education of primary care physicians and has directed CME courses for over 30 years. His advocacy contributed to the expansion of health care access in Massachusetts in 2006.

Recently, Dr. Goodson has focused on building a robust primary care workforce. His efforts involve practice innovation and payment reform. He has served as a consultant in the development of a third-generation electronic health record (EHR) based on problem-oriented charting. He formed a new professional organization, the Cognitive Care Alliance, which has brought together professional society representatives from primary care medicine as well as other specialties focused on the delivery of cognitive services such as endocrinology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, neurology, and hematology.
