John C. Kingdom is a Clinician-Scientist in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital since 1998 with CIHR funding since 2003.

He is an associate member of the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute (LTRI) at Mount Sinai Hospital and has laboratory space on the Reproductive Sciences floor at LTRI partnered with Dr. Stephen Lye.

Dr. Kingdom established the Placenta Clinic within the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division in 1999, to foster translational science in the pathology of "placental insufficiency" disorders via the BioBank. His basic research interests currently include non-anticoagulant actions of heparin to prevent severe preeclampsia (hypertension in pregnancy requiring preterm delivery) maternal cardiovascular effects of heparin in pregnancy, micro-particle (exosome and surface particles) communication between the placental trophoblast surface and the maternal arterial endothelium, post-transcriptional regulation of gene function in the placenta via SUMOylation.
