John Baumann PhD, MA

Baumann has served since 2012 as Executive Director for Human Research Protection Programs. He joined IU in 2009 as the Executive Director of Research Ethics, Education and Policy (REEP). Previously, he was Vice Provost for Research at University of Missouri-Kansas City and Deputy Executive Director at the National Development and Research Institutes in New York, NY. He received his Ph.D. and M.A. from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Since 2012 he has been a member of the Council of Accreditation for the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP), and has served as an AAHRPP Site Reviewer since 2007. He has oversight for IU’s Human Research Protection Programs, Animal Care & Use Programs, Conflict of Interest, Export Controls, and Research Integrity programs.
