Dr. Martin's clinical, research, and medical education efforts and interests are focused on endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), advanced interventional endoscopy, surgical endoscopy, hepato-biliary disorders, pancreaticobiliary diseases, transplantation surgery, and the development of novel endoscopic devices for advanced therapeutic endoscopy, as well as an interdisciplinary investigation of new advanced multimodal molecular imaging technologies in the laboratories of Drs. Khashayarsha Khazaie and Elias Gounaris.

Dr. Martin is also involved in interdisciplinary study, application, and validation of new simulation models and devices for use in endoscopic training and education. In 2007, he initiated the third-tier, fourth-year fellowship program in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at Northwestern.

Dr. Martin is a graduate of the University of Virginia College of Arts and Sciences and of the University Of Virginia School Of Medicine. He served his internship and residency at the University Hospitals of Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University. He received his fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Pittsburgh, where he concentrated on pancreaticobiliary disorders, hepatobiliary disorders, and therapeutic endoscopy.
