Dr. John AC Thanakumar, a renowned Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon. He has over 35 years of experience in the field of surgery having completed his MBBS, MS and MNAMS from the prestigious Christian Medical College, Vellore, he went on to specialize in Advanced Surgical Gastroenterology completing FRCS in Edinburgh and Glasgow. He has received training in Advanced Laparoscopy, Bariatric Surgery and Robotic Surgery from USA, France, Germany, Singapore, Korea and Malaysia.
He is the pioneer of Laparoscopic Surgery in South India, having performed in 1992, Asia’s first Laparoscopic APR and Thoracoscopic Esophageal mobilisation. He has authored numerous books and journals in the field of Laparoscopy. He has delivered Lectures and orations at National and International forums. He is the current President of IAGES, an association for Laparoscopic Surgeons all over India.
