Dr. Lampe is a Full Member and Associate Division Director in the Public Health Sciences Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and a Research Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Washington in Seattle. She received her PhD in nutritional sciences, with a minor in biochemistry, from the University of Minnesota and trained as a post-doctoral fellow in epidemiology at the University of Minnesota before joining the faculty at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in 1994.

Dr. Lampe’s research focuses on the effect of diet constituents on cancer susceptibility in humans and the effects of genetic variation on response to diet. Her group uses controlled dietary interventions to evaluate cancer biomarker-response to diet and specific phytochemicals. In addition, her lab studies the modifying effects of the gut microbiome on phytochemical metabolism and disease risk.

One of her current research projects, supported by the NIH and in collaboration with Drs Chapkin (TAMU) and Hullar (FHCRC), addresses the effects of bacterially-derived enterolignans on gut epithelial and stromal gene expression. Dr. Lampe is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the American Society for Nutrition, and the Groupe Polyphénols. She is an elected member of the AACR Molecular Epidemiology Working Group Steering Committee.
