Joel Sheinfeld MD

Joel Sheinfeld, MD, is a board‑certified urologic surgeon and a leading specialist in the surgical treatment of genitourinary cancers, with a particular focus on testicular cancer. He is Deputy Chief of the Urology Service and holds the Florence and Theodore Baumritter/Enid Ancell Chair of Urologic Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.

Dr. Sheinfeld works closely with multidisciplinary teams—including medical oncology, pathology, radiology, and radiation oncology—to provide comprehensive care. He is best known for developing advanced surgical techniques, particularly nerve‑sparing retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND), which aim to treat cancer effectively while preserving fertility. Over the past decade, he has performed approximately 100 RPLND procedures annually.
