Dr. Joel Kravitz graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and completed a five-year EM residency at McGill as well, where he served as chief resident. He is board certified in emergency medicine in both the US and Canada. Over his 25-year career, he has spent most of it in academic and administrative roles and brings extensive experience from both the academic and community sides of medical practice.

He has previously served as the associate program director at Albert Einstein in Philadelphia and has served as Assistant Director of Emergency medicine at Capital Health before ultimately returning to his first love of education. He has had several grants that have resulted in publications on such topics as diabetic ketoacidosis and asthma management and has presented his research locally, nationally and internationally. He has written multiple book chapters over the past two decades in previous editions of Tintinalli, Rosen, as well as other EM texts. He is passionate about teaching the day-to-day clinical expertise needed to make decisions in the ED. His research interests include ED decision-making and resident education and recruitment.
