Joe T. Southerland DPM, FACFAS

Joe T. Southerland, DPM, is a board-certified podiatric surgeon in both Foot and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle surgery with an extensive history in podiatric education. Based out of the Arlington, Texas, office, Dr. Southerland uses the latest technologies to achieve optimal results for his patients. A Texas resident since 1999, Dr. Southerland’s journey into the field of medicine began in Athens, Georgia, where he earned two degrees, pharmacy, and chemistry, from the University of Georgia. After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Southerland earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida.

Dr. Southerland returned to Tucker, Georgia, for a three-year podiatric surgery residency at Northlake Regional Medical Center. After residency, Dr. Southerland spent some time teaching in Australia. He has continued to do that over the years and in 2012, he was awarded honorary Fellow of the Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons for his efforts in teaching surgical techniques of the foot and ankle. Dr. Southerland is renowned for his dedication to education in the field of podiatry. He is the former chairman of the Board of Directors of the Podiatry Institute, a nonprofit teaching institution, and he served as chief editor of the fourth edition of McGlamry’s Comprehensive Textbook of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
