Joe Sasadeusz is an infectious disease physician who subspecializes in medical virology. He has particular interests in viral hepatitis in both HIV uninfected as well as coinfected individuals. He also works in infections in immunocompromised hosts, especially patients who have undergone a hematopoietic stem cell transplant. He is heavily involved in the education of general practitioners via the VHITTAL program. He also conducts clinical trials and has multiple research projects in the above areas.

Sasadeusz obtained his medical degree with honors at Monash University after which he obtained his fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians after advanced training in infectious diseases. He then completed a PhD in antiviral resistance at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. On return to Melbourne, he was appointed as the H&L Hecht Research Fellow and consultant physician at the Victorian Infectious Diseases Service at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He is the holder of multiple research grants including a current NHMRC research grant on the topic of Hepatitis cure.
