Dr. Joe George is a leading Endocrinologist based in Kozhikode, Kerala, India. He passed his MBBS examination at Calicut Medical College, Kerala in 1997. Further, he did his General medicine training at Kottayam Medical College and was awarded MD in 2003. He cleared the Diplomate of the National Board of examinations in Medicine in 2005. He pursued specialist training in Endocrinology and Diabetology from the renowned Seth GS Medical College and King Edward Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, and was awarded DM in 2007. He was adjudged the best resident of KEM Hospital for the year 2006. He received additional training in radioimmunoassay techniques and their clinical applications from the prestigious Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay in 2006. Dr. George is a WHO- IDC-certified Diabetes Management Trainer. He received additional training in Paediatric Endocrinology under the Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES) in Thailand in 2006.

After completing DM (endocrinology), he joined MIMS (Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences), Calicut as a full-time consultant in August 2007. In December 2008 he joined Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (KDAH) Mumbai as a consultant. In May 2011, he joined Baby Memorial Hospital as a Consultant Endocrinologist and ran the department there till October 2016. In November 2016, he started Endodiab Clinic – The first super specialty endocrine and diabetic clinic in North Kerala along with Dr. Raju A Gopal.

Along with Prof. Abdul Majeed, he organized the Endocrinologists of North Kerala to form a society called MENDES (Malabar Endocrine Society). He was the founder secretary of the organization and held the post for 2 years till 2016. As the secretary of the organization, he organized two national-level Endocrine CME at Kozhikode in 2015 and 2016 called MENDES update attended by more than 500 doctors. This was meant to spread awareness and knowledge of endocrinology among general practitioners and help them improve patient care. He was the Secretary of the Endocrine Society (Kerala Chapter) and the Professional Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (PACE, Kerala) for 3 years from May 2017 to May 2020. During his tenure, he organized 3 national endocrine meetings KENDOCON 2018, PACE Masterclass, and KENDOCON 2019.

From the start of his career, he has been a speaker for various academic meetings and CME programs both at the state and national levels. He has been a faculty and speaker at national conferences organized by various reputed associations like RSSDI and the Endocrine Society of India. He has also been invited speaker for various international academic meetings organized at venues like Oslo, Dubai, Colombo, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bangalore. He was one of the panels of judges for the AV Gandhi Award 2020. This prestigious award was instituted by the Endocrine Society of India and is given for the best thesis among postgraduate students of endocrinology all over India.

He is very enthusiastic about research and publications. He has 16 publications in indexed journals to his credit. His post-doctoral thesis “Study of metabolic bone disease in chronic liver disease” was the first of a kind study from India and was published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology in 2009.
