Mr Curry is a consultant neonatal and paediatric surgeon at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He trained in the South East of England training consortium and was awarded the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons medal for outstanding performance in the intercollegiate examination prior to taking up his current post in 2003. During his training he performed a national research project aimed at improving the outlook for babies born with serious abdominal wall defects.
His main areas of interest are in gastrointestinal (bowel) surgery and treating children born with abnormalities of the abdominal wall, diaphragm and gastrointestinal tract. Particular areas of expertise are in oesophageal surgery, anti reflux surgery and lower bowel surgery including children with ano-rectal anomalies, Hirschsprung’s disease and inflammatory bowel disease. He has developed a practice to particularly help children who have had unsuccessful surgical procedures before. He has special expertise in laparoscopic (key-hole) surgery even in infants as small as 1kg.
