Jochen Weigt MD

Prof. Dr. med. Jochen Weigt is acting Director of the University Clinic for Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Infectious Diseases. His medical career began with his medical studies at the Otto von Guericke University. He is a specialist in internal medicine and gastroenterology and has been working at the University Medicine in Magdeburg (UMMD) since 2003.

He is working on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in endoscopy and as part of his professorship in order to promote the next generation of gastroenterology and to inspire young medical professionals for this subject, Prof. Weigt uses contemporary methods, a mix of theoretical basic knowledge and learning practical skills on simulators and training equipment.
