Dr. Jochen Schaefer is board-certified in dermatopathology by both the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Pathology. He received his medical degree from Eberhard-Karls-University’s School of Medicine in Tübingen (Germany), after which he became an intern of General Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine (New Haven, CT) and a third-year categorical resident in General Surgery.
Dr. Schaefer then completed his residency in Anatomic Pathology at the University of California San Francisco and spent his third-year residency and fellowship in Dermatopathology and Surgical Pathology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Medical College of Cornell University (New York, NY) at the Weill Cornell Medical College.
He continued his postdoctoral fellowship in dermatopathology and cancer immunology at the University of Virginia under the mentorship of Craig L. Slingluff, M.D, and James W. Patterson, M.D., and then became certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology and completed his fellowship of dermatopathology after which he pursued his academic career as Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Dermatopathology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology, Tufts University, (Boston, MA).
By 2016, Dr. Schaefer continues the practice of dermatopathology at the Bako Integrated Physician Solutions in Atlanta, GA. He received certification from the American Academy for Facial Esthetics and founded Skin and Bone Docs, an esthetics and sports medicine clinic in Atlanta, GA.
