Joaquim Radua MD, PhD

Dr. Joaquim Radua is a leader of the Imaging of Mood, Anxiety and Related Disorders (IMARD) link group at August Pi and Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS) and associate professor of the degree in Medicine at the University of Barcelona link, is a psychiatrist and statistician who earned his doctorate in biostatistics of brain imaging at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience link (IoPPN), King's College London.

He has led many multidisciplinary studies about mental disorders and analyzed many clinical and neuroimaging datasets; these usually worldwide collaborations have led to >300 publications in Pubmed-indexed journals and his inclusion in the Highly Cited Researchers List link since 2017.

He has also developed several new meta-analytic and neuroimaging methods, among which SDM software link must be highlighted as it has become a standard within the scientific community. His research also focuses on clinical prediction (e.g., recurrence risk) based on available clinical and biological data to pave the way for evidence-based personalized medicine in mental health.

At the academic level, he teaches and coordinates several postgraduate courses in psychiatry, statistics, and neuroimaging, is an associate editor of Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews, Revista de Psiquiatria y Salud Mental, and other journals, and formerly held the presidency of the Spanish Neuroimaging Society link.

He has mainly developed his work in London (IoPPN, King's College London, where he is an honorary researcher and keeps continued collaborations with Dr. Paolo Fusar-Poli), Stockholm (Karolinska Institutet, Sweeden, where he is also an honorary researcher and maintains continued collaborations with Prof. David Mataix-Cols), New Haven (Yale University, Connecticut, USA) and Barcelona (FIDMAG Research Foundation; and since 2018 IDIBAPS).
