Joao Pedro Fidalgo Rocha is a Professor of Pharmacology & Pharmacotherapy at the Department of Pharmacy, Pharmacology and Health Technologies of the Faculty of Pharmacy – University of Lisbon (Portugal) lecturing at several disciplines in the Integrated Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences and also at the Masters in Regulation and Evaluation of Medicines and Health Products and in PhD Advanced Courses. With a background in experimental models of disease (liver ischemia-reperfusion, gut inflammation, acute lung injury, sepsis, stroke, and others) he is currently the Group Leader at the Laboratory of Systems Integration Pharmacology, Clinical & Regulatory Science at iMed, with areas of research interest focusing on Non-Clinical and Clinical Pharmacology/Pharmacodynamics, Regulatory Sciences, and Orphan Medicines, having published over 50 full papers in international peer-reviewed journals, over 60 communications in national and international congresses and acts as invited editor and reviewer of international peer-reviewed journals in the area of Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapy, Medicine and Regulatory Science. Additionally, in the Health Regulatory area, he is a Portuguese Member of the Committee for Orphan Medicines (COMP) at the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and a Clinical Pharmacology Expert Assessor also at the EMA. He is also a Pre-Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology Expert Assessor for the Medicines Evaluation Committee (CAM) at Infarmed (National Authority of Medicines and Health Products). He is also a Toxicological and Pharmaceutical Expert Assessor for DGAV (Directorate General for Food and Veterinary). He is also a Consultant for the National Technical Commission for COVID-19 Vaccination at the Directorate General of Health (DGS) and a Member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Commission at the Administração Regional de Saúde de Lisboa e Vale do Tejo (ARS-LVT) do Ministério da Saúde.
