Joao Manuel Espregueira Mendes MD, PhD

Joao Graduated in Medicine in 1985 at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto. From November 1984 to January 1988, he held the position of Anatomy Monitor at the Faculty of Medicine of Porto. In January of 1994, it was approved by Unanimidade in the global curricular evaluation of the end of the Complementary Internship of Orthopedics and Traumatology, having obtained the classification of 20.0 values. In January 1994, he obtained the degree of Specialist Hospital of Orthopedics and Traumatology with the final classification of 20.0 values.

Since 1994, he has been a specialist in Orthopedics and Traumatology by the Medical Association. In 1995, he held a public examination for the position of Hospital Assistant of Orthopedics and Traumatology of HS João, and was approved first with 20.0 values. On July 20, 1995, he took a PhD in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Porto Medical School, and was approved with Unanimity, Distinction and Praise. His PhD thesis is entitled "Chronic Lesions of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament".

In October of 1998, he competed for the Direction of the Orthopedics and Traumatology Service of HS Sebastiao. He was appointed Director of Service and created the Ortopedia Service of HS Sebastiao, inserted in a new model of management of the public hospitals with responsibility of the directors of service by an annual program contract.
