Joanne (Joie) Whitney PhD, RN, CWCN, FAAN received a BSN from Duke University, a MS from University of Michigan and a PhD from the University of California, San Francisco. Clinically She have worked in Intensive and acute care as a staff nurse and clinical nurse specialist. She have taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her current teaching responsibilities include supervision of undergraduate and graduate research projects and Co-directorship of the UW ITHS TL1 Interdisciplinary Training Program in Translational Science and the Rising Stars Program.

she serve as faculty liaison for UW Continuing Nursing Education, and for CNE specialty programs: the Wound Management Education Program, the Wound Fundamentals Course and the Medical-Surgical Specialty Program. She also a Research Scientist at Harborview Medical Center, where She work with nurses to develop increased capacity for clinical inquiry and evidence based practice. Her program of clinical research has and continues to focus on the prevention and treatment of acute and chronic wound healing problems.
