Joanna Coote MBChB, MRCP, FRCR

Dr Joanna Coote gained her MBChB with Honours standard in three preclinical subjects from the Victoria University of Manchester. She also completed an intercalated degree in Immunology and Oncology at Manchester University and the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research. She then completed her postgraduate medical training at The Christie, Central Manchester Healthcare Trust, and at University Hospitals South Manchester. Dr Coote then did her oncology training at The Christie and Royal Preston Hospital.

As well as her clinical area of work, Dr Coote has an interest in medical education, mentorship, and appraisal. She has been involved in teaching medical students, specialist nurses, and specialist trainees in oncology, as well as primary care educational events with practicing and trainee general practitioners. She participates in National recruitment interviews for clinical oncology and teaches on the Christie FRCR part 2 course. Since March 2018, she has been the training programme director for clinical oncology training in the North West. Dr Coote has undergone training in medical appraisal and undertakes consultant appraisals throughout the year. Dr Coote has also undergone mentorship training and participates in the Royal College of Radiologists mentorship programme for new consultants.
