Joan Harvey joined Cigna in June 2012. As Vice President of Consumer Health Engagement and Behavioral Health, Joan has overall responsibility for Cigna’s consumer health strategy that includes clinical program design. Her organization consists of approximately 3,300 employees and includes Cigna’s clinical operations. Joan’s vision delivered innovative solutions to the marketplace including One Guide, the Health Matters Suite of products and Cigna’s new medical management solutions. Joan has over 25 years of experience in the health care industry. She came to Cigna from Medco, where she served as Senior Vice President for Personal Health Solutions and President of Medco Diabetes & Liberty Medical Supply. While at Medco, she created an integrated diabetes strategy to reach approximately 20 percent of all diabetes patients in the United States. In prior roles, she served as Senior Vice President of WellPoint 360 Health and CEO of American Imagine Management.

A summary of her accomplishments include being a founding member of the Disease Management Association of America and recognition by Managed Healthcare Executive Magazine as one of the top leaders in disease management. She also received the honor of being named one of the “Top 100 under 50 Diverse Executives Leaders” by Diversity MBA Magazine, and was recognized in the “Top 100” list of most influential innovators in health care by Healthspottr. Joan is the author of “Asthma Disease Management in the 21st Century” for Managed Care Handbook: Best Practices in Medical Management.

Joan received a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Bates College, and a master of business administration degree from the American Graduate School of International Management.
