Prof. Chapman received his M.D. from the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University in 1986 and then continued research as a postgraduate student receiving a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Tel Aviv University in 1991. He continued as a resident in Neurology at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center and was certified as a neurologist in 1994. After a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neurogenetics at the National Institutes of Health in the US, he was a senior neurologist and Neuroimmunology Clinic Director at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center until 2002. In 2002 he took up the chair of Neurology at the Chaim Sheba Medical Center. Prof. Chapman has extensive research interests in Neurology, Neuroimmunology, Genetics, and Neurodegenerative disease. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed papers and should soon be promoted to Associate Professor of Neurology at Tel Aviv University. He is a leading authority on specific research areas including genetic factors in Multiple Sclerosis, genetic factors in Alzheimer's Disease and Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, a neurological complication of Systemic Autoimmune Disease, and animal models of Neuroimmunological Disease. He teaches extensively at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine including coordinating the Neuroscience Systems course and has supervised 3 Ph.D. and 8 MSc students.
