Jo Viney PhD, BSc

Jo is an entrepreneurial scientist and experienced biotech executive with deep autoimmune and inflammatory disease area expertise. Jo has successfully advanced a number of small molecule and large molecule programs into the clinic. Previously, Jo worked at Biogen in Cambridge, MA where she began as Vice President, Immunology Research, and was responsible for building and advancing the company’s immunology portfolio before moving on to become Senior Vice President, Drug Discovery, and a member of the senior R&D leadership team.

Jo has maintained longstanding membership with the Society for Mucosal Immunology (SMI) and the American Society of Immunologists (AAI). She has served numerous terms on the SMI Board and was President of SMI from 2011-2013. Together with SMI colleagues, she launched the Mucosal Immunology journal with Nature Publishing Group. In 2015, Jo received the SMI’s Distinguished Service Award. Jo is a member of the Board of Directors for CaroGen Corp and Finch Therapeutics and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for Vaxart Inc and HotSpot Therapeutics.
