Dr. Jiri Gruz received his diploma in analytical chemistry in 2004 and PhD in botany in 2008 from Palacky University. He is employed as a scientist at Laboratory of Growth Regulators, Centre of the Region Hana for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research, Institute of Experimental Botany ASCR & Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic. In 2012, he received CRH Director’s Award for a successful project on oxidative degradation of phenolic compounds. His major research is directed at identifying novel biomarkers and bioactive compounds from plants by using LC-MS metabolomics. He is an editor of the South African Journal of Botany; he is also a supervisor of courses in experimental data processing, metabolomics and pharmacognosy at Palacky University. He published 59 scientific articles and book chapters (total cites 1130, h index 19).
