Jim Atkins MD

Sinus specialist James Atkins, MD, is the founder of Atkins Expert Sinus Care in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Atkins opened his practice in 2000 with the specific goal of being a clinic that specializes in the sinuses after realizing so many of his patients needed a more focused and experienced approach to their difficult sinus problems.

Like many of the Atkins Expert Sinus Care staff, Dr. Atkins is a native Texan. He grew up in Galveston and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He completed his medical degree, an internship in general surgery, and a residency in otolaryngology/head-and-neck surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Atkins has been board-certified in otolaryngology and in private practice in South Texas since 1991.

To the benefit of his patients, Dr. Atkins feels fortunate to partner with many of the companies that develop and bring to market the most innovative ENT technologies. These collaborations have kept him at the forefront of new technological breakthroughs and allowed him to be the first in the region, the state, and even the country to adopt many new techniques. Dr. Atkins is also very active in various medical society meetings and continuing education courses, both of which allow him to stay up-to-date on new treatment options that might benefit his patients.

Dr. Atkins finds great satisfaction in helping patients who have been plagued with sinus problems for years and thought that they would just have to live with their symptoms. He is uniquely qualified to offer his patients the most current techniques in the world of rhinology, state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, and the least traumatic surgical options available.
