Jessica completed her double degree in 2003 graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movements) and Bachelor of Nursing. After working clinically for a number of years she moved into the field of research and went on to complete a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Trial Management in 2009 with the University of Canberra and a Master of Applied Science (Research) in 2013 with Queensland University of Technology.

Over the past 10 years she has specialized in cardiac research and during this time was awarded the Best Young Researcher and Best Nursing Researcher at the European Society of Cardiology Heart Failure Congress 2015 and Best Clinical Poster at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Research Symposium in 2012 for her work looking at the effect of exercise on sleep in people with heart failure. She is a Senior Nursing Research Fellow at the Queensland University of Technology and provides capacity building for nurses to support them in their research pursuits. She currently works as the Clinical Research Manager for the Queensland Paediatric Cardiac Service. Jessica’s Ph.D. program examines the use of multidisciplinary interventions to improve lifestyle behaviors in children and young people with congenital heart disease.
