Jessica Sharon Scott BS, MD, JD

Jessica Scott, MD, JD is the Director of Healthcare ADR Innovation at Carolina Dispute Settlement Services. Jessica received her B.S degree (1989) in Biology and Psychology from Union College in Schenectady, NY. She then attended Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts receiving her M.D. (1993) then completing her Residency in Family Medicine at the University of Virginia (1996).
Jessica has eleven years of experience as a Family Physician in North Carolina, treating patients in the in-patient, out-patient and urgent care settings. In addition to her experience as a physician, Jessica has been a clinical instructor to residents, medical students, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. She became increasingly interested in helping to resolve medical issues within the legal context and served as the National Medical Expert to a group of 650 workers� compensation attorneys, speaking and consulting nationally on medical conditions relating to workers.
She is Interested in improving healthcare quality and reducing the stress of litigation on physicians, Jessica felt compelled to obtain her law degree. She entered Campbell University School of Law and received her J.D., graduating with honors in 2010. She received the Barristeri Award, having achieved high honors and excellence in advocacy and was admitted to the North Carolina bar in August 2010.
Jessica brings her experience working within the tort litigation system to see issues from multiple perspectives. In addition to serving as an expert witness, Jessica advocated in the medical malpractice arena for both plaintiffs and defendants as an intern. As a result, Jessica became even more committed to helping both sides through improved health care quality along with reduced fear of litigation and defensive medicine.
