Jessica Oswald, MD, MPH, is a board-certified emergency medicine and pain medicine specialist who cares for patients with both acute and chronic painful conditions using a range of procedures including neuromodulation, fluoroscopic guided spine procedures, ultrasound-guided injections, trigger point injections, and botulinum toxin to head neck and other muscles.

She specializes in interventional pain procedures and lifestyle modifications that help patients return to function. Dr. Oswald favors minimizing opiates and uses a multidisciplinary and anti-inflammatory approach to pain that includes complementary alternatives, exercise, psychological counseling, and mindfulness.

As an assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine and Department of Anesthesiology's Division of Pain Medicine, Dr. Oswald is active in training medical students, residents, and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Her research interests include peripheral nerve stimulation and modalities that help prevent pain from becoming chronic.

Dr. Oswald completed her fellowship in pain management at UC San Diego School of Medicine and her residency in emergency medicine at UCLA School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and a master's degree in public health from West Virginia University. Dr. Oswald is board certified in emergency medicine and pain medicine. She is a former professional surfer and cancer survivor and in her free time, she enjoys surfing, fishing, hiking, and snowboarding.
