Jess joined the Schnabel Lab in 2016 after completing a fellowship in orthopedic research at the University of Pennsylvania with Dr. Thomas Schaer. She received her MS at Virginia Tech in 2010 and her DVM at Iowa State University in 2014. She followed that education with a clinical internship in equine medicine and lameness at BW Furlong and Associates. Under the mentorship of Dr. Schnabel and continued collaboration with Dr. Schaer, she is pursuing her doctoral degree at NCSU. Jess’s research focuses on the pathogenesis of infectious osteoarthritis and exploring novel treatment for this disease.
