Dr. Jesal Popat is an interventional cardiologist at Florida Medical Clinic, Orlando Health. Originally from South Africa, he has lived in the Tampa Bay area for over 17 years. Dr. Popat is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and multiple other subdisciplines. An active Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, he specializes in a “radial-artery first” approach to coronary catheterization procedures, minimizing risks and improving outcomes. Dr. Popat is a lifelong vegetarian; his clinical practice focuses as much on prevention through proper nutrition and cardiovascular exercise as the treatment of cardiac disease.

Dr. Popat graduated with honors from the University of South Florida with degrees in Biology and Chemistry before attending the Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida. He completed his training in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease at Tampa General Hospital, Pepin Heart Institute, and the James A. Haley VA hospitals.
